How to stop Pop Ups on SmartTV?

I just purchased LG SmartTV add-on for my TV. I am noticing that when I click on something, occasionally there are popups, just like there would be if I were on my computer. However it seems that with the SmartTV, a popup is not a new window that can be easily closed, it's considerd a new page. I can press the 'back' button, but the things I want to click on trigger popups which just take me to the popup page over and over. Is there a way to close the popup or prevent them with SmartTV? I hope I am explaining this properly, please let me know if you need more detail.
