Can i collect unemployement if i resign from my job.?
No you will not be able to collect unemployment compensation if you resign from your job. Quitting, resigning, or abandoning your job all involve a voluntary choice to stop working and receiving a paycheck. The fact that your employer will not allow you to telecommute is normal. Many employers do not want their employees working from home. If you choose to resign you will be making the choice to become unemployed. You are not being laid off through no fault of your own. If you submit a claim for unemployment, your employer will be contacted to find out why you are no longer working. When the employer lets them know that you quit or resigned, it becomes clear that it was your personal choice to stop working, and your claim for benefits will be denied. You should not resign if you need the money from your job to pay bills.
