If you pop it it can scar. My own home remedy is to make a poultice out of 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol. Clean the goop off of the boil and apply the paste --cover with a bandage and let sit for a few hours then change. This will pull the infection out of the skin and has no chance of causing further damage. Good Luck.
